Cockshutt CE Primary School & Nursery

Class work

We enjoyed a fantastic educational visit to The Exotic Zoo to support our learning about classification. Not only did we have the expertise of a zoo keeper to tell us all about the different classes of animals but we actually experienced them up close. The class we engaged and enthusiastic throughout and very brave.
We have taken part in the Art and Enterprise Project organised by the British Ironwork Centre. The class have entered a competition to create a unique design for a kitchen cabinet door handle. A panel of judges will choose the winning design that will be produced and introduced to their new cabinet door handle range. Watch this space for any updates.

What kind of world did Jesus want?

We have been exploring the question - 'What kind of world did Jesus want?'. Rev Maureen spent time with the class to learn about the role of the church and community in relation to the question. The children had an excellent understanding of the values and qualities that Jesus believed in and they related these to how we behave now. The class discussed the topic in a mature and thoughtful way.

Futures week is an opportunity for the children to learn about a variety of careers by working with visitors who have kindly offered to come and talk to all of the children. It will be interesting to see if they change their mind about what their future career may be!

Have a look at the photos below to see what exciting visitors we have had in school.

Futures Week - Mrs Owen and Rutendo

Investigating Gas.

Does a gas have mass? We investigating the weight of fizzy and flat drinks to find the answer to our investigation question. We made predictions, planned a fair investigation, recorded the results and reached a conclusion. Does gas have mass........yes!

Making a Weather Station

We are learning about weather and climate and as part of our learning we have made a weather station so we can record the wind direction, amount of rain and the temperature over the week. We worked as a team to follow instructions to create our stations.
