We had a fantastic afternoon at The Marches taking part in a football tournament with 8 other teams.
We got off to a flying start in the first round winning our first match 1-0 against Gobowen. Our second match also got off to a great start with us going 1-0 up in the first few minutes but unfortunately Bryn Offa equalised and then got a last minute goal to win 2-1 which meant we were into round 2 playing for 2nd place. Our next match was tough with Whittington taking the lead then an unlucky own goal meant we lost 2-0. Not conceding any goals, we battled hard in our last match with the final score being 0-0 against Trefonen. This took us to 3rd place in round 2.
We had an amazing morning at the AMF Ten Pin Bowling competition in Shrewsbury organised by the Panathlon charity in conjunction with School Games. There were other schools from our North Shropshire area and the 6 children from Cockshutt had a great time and were delighted to finish in first place winning a trophy, medals and certificates.
Sports Leader Elections.
Congratulations to the children who have been elected to represent Cockshutt School as Sports Leaders. The KS2 children voted for the people they would most like to represent them as Sports Leaders - the job means that they are the voice of their classmates and so if there are any requests for equipment/clubs/activities/rotas they are the children to go and talk to. We hold regular meetings where ideas and requests are discussed and solutions found.
It was great to get out to a competition again with our Hockey Team when we competed in the Inter-School Hockey Tournament at the Marches School with our local School Games cluster schools.
They played 4 very fast moving matches and finished in 4th place in the Certificate final, a great afternoon of friendly competition!
