We were very excited to have a visit from the big man himself this afternoon.
We had a lovely afternoon at Petton church thinking about the Christmas story. We enjoyed lots of activities including decorating pine cones, recreating the journey of Mary and Joseph and writing promises, challenges and Christmas wishes for friends and loved ones.
As part of our science unit we explored the question ‘Which is the best way to clean germs off our hands?’ We used glitter to represent germs and cleaned our hands using a dry paper towel, water and soap and water to find an answer.
In computing we have been learning to use Word. We learnt how to open a document, type text and change the font style, size and colour.
We have been learning different balances in gymnastics.
Today we made cheesy pitta pizza pockets and toasted them on a camp fire down at forest school. They were delicious!
Some children even made their own camps and camp fire to ‘cook’ their own food on.
In D&T we have been exploring and testing different types of wheels for moving vehicles.
In Geography we have been learning about famous landmarks. We worked with a partner to choose and research a landmark.
We use Kinetic Letters to develop our handwriting.
We collected sticks to make a fire then enjoyed some yummy hot chocolate.
Today we started to reflect on our RE question for the half term, ‘Why is Christmas important to Christians?’. We spent some time thinking about what we already knew about the Christmas story.
In Science we have been learning about the human life cycle and what animals need to survive.
We enjoyed our annual live music event performed by the Shropshire Music Service where we listened to a selection of folk music and learnt about the different instruments. We also had our friends from Criftins join us and stay for lunch.
We had fun learning how to tie knots. We then tied ourselves together and worked really hard in teams to race across the field.
This half term we have been learning about The Creation, we will be writing a set of rules for how we believe God would want us to treat his wonderful world. Before this we looked at the Ten Commandments. We reflected on each commandment and ordered them from most important to least.
We had a wonderful and thoughtful time at the church learning about the importance of harvest.
Every Friday we spend time reading for pleasure. We enjoy sharing books with our friends and choosing new books from the school library.
This term in Art we are looking at the colours of the seasons and using different materials to represent them.
In Geography we have been learning about the continents and oceans, in today’s lesson we used an atlas to create our own map. Then we followed a key to colour each continent.
Ash class enjoyed a fun and energetic music lesson this week, they learnt about music notation and rhythm through singing and moving to songs.
At Forest School this week we buried our time capsules and took photographs of things in nature that we found beautiful ready to use in our R.E lesson.
In science this week we are learning about offspring, we started our lesson by matching adult animals to their offspring.
We spent the first few days getting to know each other through lots of fun activities. We made a time capsule, wrote class promises, completed jigsaw pieces about ourselves and played a getting to know you game with the beach ball.
