Parents are welcome to come into the classroom with their children in the mornings. This is a great time for you to share any information with me and other members of the team and an opportunity for you to see your child engaging with all that is on offer within our classroom. Please try to encourage your child to be independent in putting their bags and coats away and choosing an activity independently. Year One children are welcome to be dropped off at the gate and go through the main door off the playground alongside the rest of the school. This will encourage their independence and organisational skills. Pick up arrangements will remain the same (we will exit one at a time via the classroom door). Please feel free to ask ANY questions; no query is too small.
PE: Tuesday & Thursday afternoon
Please can you ensure your child’s PE kit is in their locker all week. It is also very useful to encourage speedy, independent changing at home to allow your children to get their full PE sessions.
Forest School: Thursday morning
Children can come to school in their Forest School clothes every Thursday. They do not need to bring their uniforms to school. It is highly advisable that you leave a set of “scruffy” clothes in your child’s locker in the case of an accident. We are a very active, arty, outdoorsy class so it is always useful to have something to change into if something gets muddy or wet.
Children will receive a note in their reading records if it is their turn to do show & tell. They could bring a picture, a story, an instrument, a favourite toy, anything that they can talk about enthusiastically (amongst last year’s show & tells, we even had a fully dressed up version of the Greatest Showman; nothing is off limits!). It may be fun to chat to your children about what they are going to say and how they are going to describe their item or news- an excellent opportunity to build vocabulary!
Community Celebration: Friday at 2:30
Don’t forget that you are always welcome at our weekly Community Celebration. This is a wonderful, positive gathering to celebrate your children every week.
