I was nominated for the Emerging School Games Organiser of the year award by my Development Coach from The Youth Sport Trust. I was then contacted to be told I had made the top 3 finalists nationally and I would find out if I had won at the School Games Summit.
The Summit was on Tuesday and I am very pleased and proud to tell you all that I won the award, below is what my development coach wrote for the nomination:
Mollie began the SGO Role in early 2016 in a large rural partnership that has experienced historically low engagement with the School Games and a number of people in the SGO role. Mollie has worked tirelessly to develop relationships in her area demonstrating tremendous passion, determination and resilience in what at times has been challenging circumstances.
Mollie’s confidence has developed throughout the year and she has established a vibrant relationship with the Subject Leaders across her area. The Independent sector and the State sector combine well to share venues, provide leaders and compete in the full range of School Games Activity. She is a fully integral member of the Shropshire Telford and Wrekin team and has been well supported by her colleagues.
As a CSP County Area Shropshire identified there had been a dip in Secondary School engagement across the County in 2016 they trialled a new method of hosting the School Games Secondary Events in the 6 different SGO areas across the year. In the Summer term of 2016 Mollie’s area had very little Secondary school engagement in the event despite it being held in her area. By the end of 2017 she had achieved full engagement and her overall data results in last terms Summer return was one of the highest in the County.
I would like to say a huge thank you to you all for giving me the opportunity to give young people across North Shropshire the experience in School Games that they so deserve. You all work tirelessly to ensure your students compete at all levels of the School Games without you they wouldn't have those opportunities and I wouldn't have such fantastic figures to give to Sport England!
