Historical explanation

Still image for this video
The class were working on historical explanations in our English topic. We were looking at how we could translate historical fact into a written explanation that engages the reader. We then took it a step further by creating our own videos to bring our writing to life! Here is an excellent example of what we have been able to achieve. More to follow soon!

Easter Journey by Rev Maureen, Mrs Thorold and Mrs Baldwin

On Wednesday, Oak class went over to the church to meet with Rev Maureen, Mrs Thorold and Mrs Baldwin.  They took us on a journey and re-told us the Christian Easter story.  The class were able to engage in a range of activities throughout the session, that reinforced the messages Jesus wanted to be heard.

World Book Day 2019

Oak class enjoyed dressing up as their favourite characters from their favourite book! It was some sight seeing them all do their daily mile this morning, a wide variety of story book characters running around the track frown

War Memorials Trust and Historic England visit Oak Class

Yesterday, Oak class were extremely lucky to welcome Carlie from the War Memorials Trust and Martin from Historic England.  The children were able to see how varied the memorials are up and down the country, and also how the War Memorials Trust charity monitors and helps look after the memorials.  We also did a range of activities based on our War Memorial here at Cockshutt; even finding out information about the local

soldiers listed on it.

Here is a link to the work done by some children adding the Church organ to the records as well

Studying maps of Cockshutt from 1891 to the modern day

As part of our local area and land use topic, the children looked at maps of Cockshutt dating back to 1891! We looked at how the area has changed over the years, and we thought about what caused these changes.
