Cockshutt CE Primary School & Nursery

Autumn 2021

Christmas! We celebrated our final week of term by having a Christmas party, singing to the local community and making “Christmas sandwiches”.

Father Christmas has crashed in Cockshutt!! We received a letter from our class elves telling us Santa had crashed on his test flight and they couldn’t find him anywhere. We searched the school for clues, drew pictures and made maps of what we found.

This week, we learnt about Advent. We independently made Advent wreaths out of card and even baked Advent wreaths out of bread!

We made reindeers to ride around the track out of old socks and sticks at Forest School this week. We had lots of fun!

The cheeky ants from our class book hid tricky words all around the hall today! We worked together to find them all and then practiced writing them to let the ants know how important they are.

Remember, remember the 5th of November! 🎆

We celebrated Diwali by listening to traditional music, reading stories, acting out the story of Rama and Sita, dressing up in traditional clothes, and making Rangoli patterns. We also made Diya lamps using salt dough and lentils.

After our walk around Cockshutt, we decided to work together to make a model of our village. We made important buildings, such as the church, the school and the millennium hall and used our map knowledge to place them in the correct location. We also learnt that maps are a view from above so we made a Lego town altogether and took an aerial photograph.

Baking “monkey bread”. We like to find lots of different ways to enjoy fruit and vegetables. Baking it ourselves means we are always excited to try new foods!
