Cockshutt CE Primary School & Nursery

Autumn 2022

Bread tasting and sandwich designs. We sampled lots of tasty bread to help us design a perfect party sandwich. We talked about bread being crusty, soft, brown, white, flatbreads and pitta breads too. Our favourites were wraps and baguette. So our designs we then made with these two breads and lots of healthy fillings!

The Big Colour. Today we explored Kandinsky and his wonderful art. We looked at lines, shapes, colour mixing and created some of our own artwork too.

Poppy Day! Today we remembered those who went to war for our freedom. We made poppy biscuits and took part in the one minute silence at church.

Skeletons. Today we looked at skeletons and tried really hard to name al of the bones in our body. We learnt that skeletons hep us move and they protect some organs. We even borrowed Colin from Ash class to identify each bone in the body.

Inter-house hockey match. Today we played a very exciting and feisty hockey match! The score was a draw!

On Fridays we read with Oak Class. It’s so much fun reading with lots of different people.

Henri Rousseau. So far we have been exploring how to create jungle leaves and we have been exploring the texture on a tiger with charcoal and pencils.

Damson crumble. We are so lucky to have a glutton of damsons at school. We picked them and made them into a crumble. We were excellent at weighing and measuring.

P.E. Our P.E sessions have been so much fun. We have been exploring a range of equipment and working in teams.

Forest fun. So far we have been exploring the forest and concentrating on making forest treats. I wonder who the star baker is?

We had a fabulous time with Ian Bland the poet. We created and performed a poem about tigers.
