We were all getting in the festive spirit this week at forest school, making Rudolph decorations. Some children wanted to be photographers again and took some brilliant photos of each other enjoying our forest school area.
The weather took a turn for the worse this afternoon so we enjoyed an indoor forest school session ,making hanging leaf decorations.
This term we have designed a healthy sandwich for a friends pack lunch. We have researched existing products, tasted different fillings and bread, learnt how to slice, grate and spread and designed a sandwich. Today we used our final design and new skills to make the sandwich and evaluate our design.
We have been learning about skeletons, this week we looked at invertebrates and vertebrates.
In Science this week, we have been looking at different bones to make the human skeleton.
This half term we are doing fitness. We will be trying to beat our own personal best each week.
In our last PE lesson of this half term we played 3v3 matches,
putting our newly learnt skills into action.
After 7 weeks of practice, we were all very excited to perform our song using ukuleles to accompany us.
We had lots of fun at forest school this week making houses for fairies, animals and each other. Some children were photographers and took photos of their creations and each other too.
In music this week, we have been learning how to play the ‘C’ chord on the Ukelele.
In preparation for making our final design, we needed to develop the essential skills of spreading, slicing and grating.
The next step in our Design and Technology project is to evaluate the types of sandwiches that are available before designing our own. The best way to do this is a taste test!
Last week at forest school we picked lots of damsons, Mrs Edwards took them home and made us some Damson Jam. This week we all got to try some, it was a huge success with everyone wanting seconds!
Each Friday we have the opportunity to sit back and enjoy a good book with our friends during our Reading for Pleasure time.
To start our topic focusing on the world, we used atlases to find the seven continents. We used the atlas and a blank map to create a key and label the continent’s.
This term we will be learning about the Ancient Egyptians. To start our topic we learnt some key facts about the Egyptians, wrote our names in hieroglyphics and designed a death mask.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
