Shropshire Council are delighted to announce that we are offering free scooter training for children this August at venues across the county thanks to grant funding from Active Travel England.

Children will have the opportunity to take their Level 1 Scootability training. The training, delivered by Team Rubicon, starts with the basic skills of balancing, turning, and braking before moving on to narrow pavements, moving obstacles and one-handed signalling.

All the equipment is provided (including scooters, helmets and pads) and the sessions are suitable for children aged 5 to 10 years.

The venues which will be hosting this training are:

  • Monday 26th August – Shrewsbury Sports Village, Shrewsbury

  • Tuesday 27th August – Maurice Chandler Sports and Leisure Centre, Market Drayton

  • Wednesday 28th August – Teme Leisure Centre, Ludlow

  • Thursday 29th August – Idsall Sports Centre, Shifnal

  • Friday 30th August – Gobowen Pavilion & Playing Field, Gobowen

Three sessions per day are available with each lasting 90 minutes - 09:30 to 11:00 / 11:15 to 12:45 / 13:45 to 13:15. Parents/Carers are required to stay for the duration of the session.
