PURPOSE OF STUDY
Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. A high-quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. As pupils progress, they should develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to compose, and to listen with discrimination to the best in the musical canon.
Shropshire Music Service
We are lucky to be supported in our music curriculum by the Shropshire Music Service. This specialised music teaching is delivered by experienced teachers who are experts in their field. The lessons are in line with the current national curriculum and children are given excellent opportunity to learn, play, compose and perform. We aim for this to provide a solid musical foundation and an ongoing development.
We are so pleased to have Mr Kitcher from Shropshire Music Service back this year teaching us singing and the ukulele.
Ukulele and Singing Lessons
Every week the children in Year 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 spend time learning how to play the ukulele. This is a fantastic opportunity that is experienced by all of he children in those year groups.
Live music week was launched with a fantastic vocal performance by Shropshire Music Service, there was even a celebrity guest appearance!
Shropshire Music Service offer a wide variety of private music lessons, such as drumming and guitar. It is great to see the children progress with their musical skills through this fantastic opportunity.
