Today we were so lucky to invite Paul Sturgess to our school. He talked to us about his career in the American basketball league for Harlem Globetrotters, his Guinness World Records for being the world’s tallest basketball player, the world’s tallest actor as well as being the tallest man in the UK right now. We also learnt that he has embraced being different and that this has since led him to try different careers such as acting. He was a real inspiration and the children were in awe of him. What a great day.
We tried our hand at using chopsticks. We started with noodles, miso soup and bad buns. We then had watermelon, green tea and moshi.
This week we will be travelling to Japan to immerse ourselves in the Japanese culture, language, history and arts.
Here we are immersed in origami.
In light of the general elections we explored the party manifestos and presented them to the class. We then voted anonymously on a polling card for our party of choice.
We measured and drew out a graph. We then plotted a set of secret co-ordinates and joined them to reveal the patterns.
We planned and prepared our water cycle experiment and are excited to see the results this week.
We have now added our first layer of paint to our ‘habitats’ and they are really coming to life. Great levels of effort and concentration everyone.
After investigating the water cycle we have decided to carry out our own experiment. Here we are setting out our ‘water cycle in a bag’ experiment. Our next step is to add our ‘ocean’.
Here in Oak class we love to show off our interests to help our classmates grow. Here is one of our Year 6 pupils sharing her research into Astronomy, as well as her astronomical predictions for the future. She did a great job at engaging her audience.
Here are some pictures of our amazing bags from our spring term. Pupils designed, measured, stitched and decorated bags of their choice. We loved expressing our creativity as well as different stitching techniques in our structure as well as embellishments.
This half term we will have coaching sessions from a cricket coach during our PE session on Tuesdays.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
