Forest School

Ash class have started reading a wonderful story all about trolls in their English lessons so we thought we would used this theme to explore what trolls could look like by making a tree troll. We used clay and natural items from the forest floor. I think they look amazing!

Oak class have started learning about medicines from a variety of time periods and cultures so we began looking at mint as a herbal remedy. We learnt it is calming, sooths headaches and helps with wind! We picked some mint and made a lovely mint tea to taste. Some children added lemon too which in itself has so many healing properties!

Oak class used berries from the forest floor to make their own paint! We smashed the berries and added a little cornflour to thicken the paint. When it was ready we used the style of Yayoi Kusama to make spotty nature pictures.

Leaf Man. Ash class explored the story leaf man and then went to create their own forest leaf creations. They made butterflies, caterpillar, people and a forest cat!

Chestnut class have began their forest school sessions exploring lots of mud! We were very dirsty but had a wonderful time practicing our jumping in the mud pit! We also picked lots of damsons to bake with. Afterwards we made little plates of food for the birds and hung a new bird feeder.
