This week, Oak Class explored the fascinating journey food takes through the digestive system... and what a memorable lesson it was!
The children created their own "digested food" mixture before feeding it through a pair of tights to represent the intestines and bowels. They squeezed, pushed and manipulated the food through the system to see how nutrients are absorbed and waste is formed.
As you can imagine, it all ended exactly where you'd expect!
There were plenty of squeals, laughs and slightly disgusted faces along the way, but most importantly, the children developed a fantastic understanding of how the digestive system works through hands-on scientific investigation.
