  • Chestnut Class Forest School Adventure!

Wed 30 Sep 2026 Kim Baker

The children in Chestnut Class have been bringing their English learning to life through our Forest School sessions. Inspired by the trolls and characters from their class text, they worked together to design and build their own troll houses using natural materials found outdoors.

The children showed fantastic creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills as they carefully selected sticks, leaves and moss to create shelters fit for a troll! It was wonderful to see them using ideas from their writing and reading in a practical, hands-on way while developing their confidence and connection with nature.

Well done, Chestnut Class, for your imagination and enthusiasm. We can't wait to see where your learning takes you next!

  • Pupil Leadership at Cockshutt CE Primary School

Mon 28 Sep 2026 Kim Baker

At Cockshutt, we encourage our children to take responsibility and make a positive contribution to school life. Through our pupil-led groups, children develop confidence, leadership skills and a sense of pride in their school.

Our Worship Team helps lead collective worship, the Safety Squad promotes keeping safe, the Climate Crew works to reduce our carbon footprint, each class has an Ambassador to represent pupil voice, and our Sports Leaders encourage participation in physical activity.

We are incredibly proud of the difference these pupils make every day!

  • Our Daily VIP!

Fri 18 Sep 2026 Kim Baker

Each morning, we start our day with a very special activity. One member of the class is chosen to be our VIP of the Day!

Throughout the morning, classmates think carefully about what makes that person special and write positive comments about them. We love hearing about acts of kindness, good friendship, hard work, resilience and the many wonderful qualities that make each child unique.

This simple activity helps to build confidence, strengthen friendships and create a classroom where everyone feels valued and celebrated. There are always lots of smiles when our VIP gets to read their special messages.

  • Early years - exciting learning and play

Fri 11 Sep 2026 Kim Baker

Our early years children have been settling in brilliantly and are already getting stuck into lots of exciting learning and play.

This week, they enjoyed exploring and constructing together, developing their creativity and teamwork skills. They also put the fruit they had picked during their forest-based learning sessions to good use by helping to prepare and cook a tasty treat.

We are so proud of how well they have adapted to their new routines and can't wait to see all the learning and adventures the year ahead will bring!
