Today the children enjoyed a delicious Chinese style lunch to celebrate Chinese New Year.
I love to have a wander around school to see what everyone is learning. There is always a lovely atmosphere as the children (and staff) enthusiastically enjoy their lessons. Today I saw sewing skills being developed, children researching the role of women in History, social skills being developed through role-play and physical skills being applied riding the balance bikes. What an amazing buzz the school had.
The children in Oak class had a surprise visitor during their Reading the Game session. Amber, one of the Shrewsbury Town Football clubs mascots, came to see how well they were getting on with their reading comprehension.
Thanks to the brilliant sponsored walk organised by the PTA, we have purchased new reading books for the children to enjoy and improve their reading skills.
A coach from Shrewsbury Town Football club will be spending the next five Monday afternoons working with Oak class to complete the Reading the Game programme. This programme captures the motivational power of football and sport to inspire the children to read more and improve their literacy skills.
Today we went to the Dodgeball tournament. A whopping 11 schools entered! We came in 7th and played amazingly! Lots of tactical shots were taken and excellent sportsmanship was demonstrated!
Ash and Oak class had a fantastic time at this years pantomime. It was a great show with lots of laughter and dancing. Well done to our four brave children who went up on stage.
