All the children sang beautifully for parents/carers before our Christmas fayre, we hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did.
Happy Christmas lunch to all our guests. We love having our visitors in school, what a great community spirit. Why don't you come along and join in during 2023.
Our new Safety Squad delivered their first assembly to the children yesterday morning. Joined by Ray Hughes, Active Travel and Road Safety Officer, the team of four shared their advice on how to stay safe during the dark winter months. From wearing high visibility clothing, and accessories to listening and looking out for cars and bikes extra carefully. The children all highlighted that electric cars are so much quieter.
A story of The Little Owl who was Afraid of The Dark was read by the whole squad. Their confidence and team work was a pleasure to see!
Ray Hughes brought in some free high visibility accessories, which were kindly donated by West Mercia Police. These will be awarded as prizes in our ‘Stay Safe in the Dark’ Poster Competition.
What a wonderful creative day exploring colour, how we used it and the work of Wassily Kandinsky. We just love how we can express ourselves on paper. It is so important to have a go when it comes to art, there are so many people who say they can't when actually we are all artists when we express ourselves.
Shropshire Libraries have sent the following message:
We would like to thank everyone for their hard work over the summer. Thanks to your enthusiasm, we have had another great Summer Reading Challenge. Please find attached an infographic that includes some of our headline figures for 2022.
Gadgeteers vs Wild World Heroes
In addition to those headline figures, we are thrilled to report that 1398 more children took part in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge as compared to 2021 and our completion rate in libraries remains at an impressive 61%.
Although SRC participation figures are great, most important for us is the number of children who joined the library over the summer in order to take part. This figure rose from 282 in 2021 to 508 this summer. Also, we know there were all kinds of wonderful family events being held in our libraries and, as a result, 882 more people enjoyed in-person SRC events this summer – quite an achievement!
Thanks again for all that you do to make the Summer Reading Challenge a huge success.
We are ready to launch our playground art this week. Such a brilliant resource for our children to get creative outdoors. Drawing boards and chalk boards, maybe even paint. Lovely to brighten up an autumn day.
Well done and thank you to everyone who brought in money for a cookie today, we raised nearly £30 for The Royal British Legion. Great idea from one our Year 6 pupils.
There will be no tuck tomorrow because pupils have organised a cookie sale tomorrow (Friday 11th November 22) to raise money for the Royal British Legion.
