Cycling Club
Tue 28 Apr 2026The children have been having a fantastic time at our Cycling and Scooter Club! From big smiles to confident riding, it’s wonderful to see them enjoying being active, learning new skills, and supporting one another.
They’ve been practising balance, steering, and safe riding – all while laughing, chatting, and having lots of fun with friends.
It’s great to watch their confidence grow each week!

Earth Day Celebrations
Fri 24 Apr 2026The children had a wonderful time celebrating Earth Day by getting hands‑on and caring for our environment. They enjoyed making fat balls to help feed the birds, took part in gardening activities, and helped keep our local area tidy with some enthusiastic litter picking.
It was lovely to see them learning about how small actions can make a big difference, while working together and taking pride in their surroundings. A great day of thoughtful, practical learning for our future planet!

Learning Where Our Water Goes!
Wed 22 Apr 2026This week, our Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils took part in an exciting and informative Severn Trent workshop, where they learned all about what happens to our sewage water after it leaves our homes
The children discovered how wastewater is cleaned, treated and made safe before being returned to the environment, and why it’s so important to look after our water systems.
A huge thank you to Severn Trent for delivering such an engaging workshop and helping our pupils understand how we can all play a part in keeping our water and environment clean

Village litter pick
Wed 22 Apr 2026Today, Ash class marked Earth Day by taking part in litter-picking around the village. This year's theme is "Our power, Our planet"
Working together, the children showed enthusiasm, teamwork, and commitment to caring for the planet. Their efforts not only contributed to a cleaner Cockshutt but also highlighted the importance of small, collective actions in protecting our planet.
Well done Ash class for demonstrating such positive values and for playing your part in creating a more sustainable future ♻️🌎

Easter Journey Day
Fri 27 Mar 2026On Wednesday, the children at Cockshutt C of E Primary School took part in a special Easter Journey Day. It was a truly wonderful occasion, where we came together to reflect on the Christian values of hope, love, forgiveness, perseverance, and new beginnings.
Despite the challenging weather, the children embraced the day with enthusiasm and positivity, demonstrating excellent resilience and teamwork throughout. The day began with Reverend Gareth sharing the Easter story, helping the children to understand its meaning and significance.
The children then worked in groups to take part in a range of engaging activities. At Forest School, they made and cooked bread over the fire, taking time to reflect on the Last Supper. They showed great creativity while making clay Easter eggs to represent new life. The children also created Easter gardens, thoughtfully discussing the resurrection of Jesus and what it means to Christians.
In addition, the children explored the different emotions and feelings that Jesus and his disciples may have experienced during the Easter story. This encouraged empathy, reflection, and deeper understanding.
We are incredibly proud of all the children for the way they immersed themselves in the day, showing respect, curiosity, and a real appreciation for the Easter story and its message.

Builder Chris.
Tue 24 Mar 2026Builder Chris came to visit us today. He taught us so many skills and even bought us hardhats to keep us safe on site! We did bricklaying, hammering and used spanners with nuts and bolts. We had a look at all of the tools he uses and we saw some building plans too. It was so much fun and he very kindly left us the materials to keep on using our skills in class to continue our building journey!

Diary of a Disciple
Fri 20 Mar 2026This week our year 5 and 6 children took part in an inspiring RE workshop all about the disciples—who they were, what they stood for, and the incredible journeys they went on as followers of Jesus. The Diary of a Disciple theme brought their stories to life in a fun, creative, and thoughtful way.
It was wonderful to see our pupils so engaged, curious, and enthusiastic. A fantastic afternoon of learning and discovery!

Red Nose Day
Fri 20 Mar 2026The children have had a great day today. Who’d have thought they would enjoy breaking the rules so much. Thank you for your generous donations. As a school we raised £108 for Comic Relief.

Library Van Visit
Thu 05 Mar 2026Library Van Adventure!
Our nursery children had such an exciting afternoon visiting the community library van, which pops by every two weeks! The children loved returning their books and choosing brand new stories to take back to class.
They couldn’t wait to share their new books with their friends — lots of smiles, curiosity and wonderful conversations about their choices. Moments like these help spark a lifelong love of reading, and we’re so grateful to have this brilliant service in our community.
