Cockshutt CE Primary School & Nursery

Autumn 2024

In Chestnut class we have realised that we want to do more baking in the new year. We enjoyed our Christmas mice pie and jam tart baking session so much we are going to try and included baking more to build on our mixing, cutting and weighing skills!

Ready for the Christmas party we made sandwiches to finish off all of the work we have been doing in our design technology subject. In previous weeks we sampled different breads, discussed fillings, voted for our favourites and designed our very own sandwiches ready to make them. The process was so much fun and we had some amazing cutting skills when preparing the ingredients! They tasted pretty awesome too! .

Theater trip! We went to the wonderful Theater Severn to watch the Owl who came for Christmas. It was an amazing performance and the children enjoyed the theater experience!

Odd Sock Day! We celebrated Odd Sock Day by wearing our odd socks, dancing to Andy and the Odd Socks on Cbeebies and learning about respect. We hunted for all of the missing socks and then designed our own odd socks. Thinking about what makes us all individual and special.

We have been working very hard recently to code the beebot cars and bugs. We linked it closely to work on directions and counting how many steps forwards and backwards the car took

We have made a great start to our science learning and have been exploring what mammals are. The children in reception had the opportunity to look at the fur on different mammals and create a version using pastels. Then we played guess the animal from the print they made!
