Some childrne in the class have been focusing upon digraphs in phonics and we have been spelling words in shaving foam! We really enjoy writing in foam and we can change the words so quickly on the foamy page!
We have been learning about Easter week and recently really enjoyed learning about Good Friday. We thought carefully about why it may be seen as 'Good' and we investigated the religious symbols within the hot cross bun! They tasted great!
We have been busy beginning our brilliant brushers journey! The children are fantastic at tooth brushing after lunch!
In science this week we have looked at making sandcastles! We thought about sand as a material and how it can change if we add too much or too little water and how this affects the sucess of the sandcastle we make!
We have been focusing on our balance bike skills in our bikeability sessions. We have been balancing, gliding and completing kangaroo jumps with bendy knees!

Science week: making snow and using our senses to explore and describe the changes in state
We are having a busy science week and today we began a new investigation. We thought carefully about fair tests and made predicitions. We had to find the best material to mop up a big spillage for Sarah the cleaner! The tea towel was the winner, as we predicited! We looked carefully at how the materials changed when they soaked up water and how this affected how useful they were. Paper towels and wipes ripped and plastic and foil made the water run off them. Great for being waterproof but not for mopping up the mess!
World book day was fantastic. We dressed up all cosy in our pyjamas to read lots of stories. We listened to MC Grammar, read with the children from Oak class, made bookmarks and front covers and really embraced the whole day through lots of stories!
We have been studying the artist Lowry. So far we have examined the pictures he created and looked at the colour pallet he used. We used our own school building as an inspiration for our own Lowry style pictures.
Chinese New Year
Fieldwork: exploring houses and building around Cockshutt
Chilly Chilly! The children really enjoyed the change in the weather and the rapid decline in temperature! We explored the frost, snow and ice and tried our very best not to slip and slide too much! The children made wonderful ice mobiles in forest school and we learnt a new song in our music lesson all about Jack Frost!
